How to rank in ChatGPT: a 2026 playbook

ChatGPT doesn't rank pages — it cites trusted sources. Here's how to become one of them.

Ranking in ChatGPT means becoming a source the model cites and recommends when asked about your category. Unlike Google, there is no SERP. There is only the answer — and you are either inside it or invisible.

1. Make yourself retrievable

ChatGPT pulls live data via Bing for many queries, and trains on the open web. Your site must be parseable, your entity must be unambiguous, and your content must be structured around real questions buyers ask.

2. Build verifiable authority

The model weights third-party validation heavily: press placements, Wikipedia/Wikidata presence, reviews, books, and citations on high-trust domains. Earned signals beat owned signals.

3. Dominate the answer space

Identify the 30–50 questions buyers ask in your category, then publish the most useful, well-cited answer to each — on your site and across the open web.
